1/2 oz American Gold Eagle Coin (2018)
(Excluding International Orders)
The 2018 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle gold coins are a reliable choice for private investments, precious metal IRAs, and collectors alike. Though they are marked as having a face value of $25 USD, the durable 22-karat gold coins are actually valuated according to the intrinsic value of the market value of gold.
Investors often choose American Gold Eagle coins because they are guaranteed by the US government and are highly tradable and movable. Furthermore, they are exempt from IRS Brokerage reporting requirements. The smaller unit size makes them ideal for investors looking to buy gold coins in smaller quantities.
Struck by the US Mint since 1985, and available to the public since 1986, the American Gold Eagle is the most popular choice in gold bullion coins. More than 12 million have been produced and they are highly sought after because of their highly identifiable markings and their reliability because they are backed by the United States Government.
Today’s American Gold Eagle design is based on an original design commissioned by President Theodore Roosevelt. Based on fabrications produced by famed artisans, Miley Busiek and Augustus Saint-Gaudens, the American Gold Eagle coin was intended to rival the artisanship of ancient Greek and Roman coins. The front side features a regal American eagle flying home with a branch to an awaiting mate and eaglets, while the obverse depicts Lady Liberty with a torch aloft and an olive branch in her other hand.
These 1/2 oz American Eagle coins are available in tubes of 40 coins with an easily recognizable yellow top for safekeeping. Each coin contains one-half ounce of 22 Karat gold and has an overall weight of 0.5454 troy ounces.
